Bolle Chandelier

The Bolle Chandelier by Giopato & Coombes is a  icon of "Architectural Immateriality." Inspired by the ephemeral beauty of soap bubbles, it is designed to capture the "lightness of air" by crystallizing it into hand-blown glass spheres.

In the luxury market, it is categorized under "Sculptural Minimalism," where the fixture serves as much as a hanging art installation as it does a source of high-quality illumination. The Bolle (Italian for "bubbles") is defined by the tension between its delicate appearance and its advanced engineering. The designers, Giopato & Coombes, sought to create a fixture where the light doesn't just hit the glass but lives inside it. It is the premier choice for modern grandfoyers and minimalist dining halls, prized for its ability to fill a large volume of space without feeling visually heavy or cluttered.

 "Softspot" Technology & Artisan

GlassHand-Blown Borosilicate Glass: Each sphere is crafted using high-grade borosilicate glass, known for its extreme clarity and lightness. It has "Blushed" finishes (Gold, Sand, Peach, Smokey Grey) to add a subtle, iridescent tint to the bubbles.

Proprietary Softspot LEDs: The chandelier utilizes the Softspot75 LED system, a proprietary engine that emits light in two directions: 75% downward for task lighting and 25% upward to illuminate the interior of the glass spheres, making them appear to glow from within.

Double-Reflection Effect: The way the internal light source interacts with the curved glass creates a "holographic" depth, where the spheres seem to multiply and drift as you move around the room.

Structural Brass: The central stems are made from hand-finished or electroplated brass, available in Brushed Nickel, Polished Nickel, or Blushed Gold to anchor the floating glass elements.

Expert Recommendations

The "Floating" Foyer: For double-height entryways, the ZigZag 98 configuration creates a vertical column of "floating bubbles" that bridges the gap between levels without blocking the architectural view.

The "Quiet Luxury" Dining Room: Position a Linear 42 Large roughly 36 inches above a 10-seat table. The Softspot LEDs provide clear light for the meal while the glowing spheres create a soft, flattering ambiance for guests' faces.

Monochromatic Synergy: "Wellness" interiors, pair the Blushed Sand glass with natural textures like Oatmeal Linen, Light Travertine, and Bleached Oak. The warm 2700K light brings out the organic depth in these materials.

Care Guide

Borosilicate Cleaning: Because the glass is exceptionally thin and clear, dust and fingerprints are highly visible. Use a specialized anti-static glass spray and a high-grade microfiber cloth.

Avoid Chemicals: Never use ammonia-based cleaners, as they can damage the proprietary nano-coatings on the glass or the hand-applied patina on the brass.

Tech-Check: The LED drivers are housed in a centralized canopy. If the light requires maintenance, the driver can be accessed and swapped without needing to dismantle the delicate glass cluster.
