Luna Capiz Pendant Light

A stone bowl carrying a disc of light. The Luna reverses the usual order of a pendant. The light source sits low, inside a hand-cut marble bowl, and fires upward into a wide brass cone and the broad disc above it. Nothing points down at you. What reaches the room has bounced off warm metal first.

The result is light with no visible source and no glare — a soft golden wash across the underside of the brass disc, and the marble bowl glowing faintly at its centre from the light spilling past it. Seated beneath it at a table, you see a lit surface, never a bulb.

Natural stone, three ways

• Black Marble. Deep near-black stone with white veining that reads sharply against the brass. The most graphic of the three.
• Red Marble. Warm oxblood tones threaded with paler veins — the richest option, and the one that most obviously reads as stone from across a room.
• Travertine. Pale, sandy, and open-grained. The quietest choice, and the one that suits neutral and Mediterranean interiors.

Every bowl is cut from natural stone, so the veining, the colour depth, and the pattern are different in every fixture. No two are alike, and the piece you receive will not match a photograph exactly.

Why the shape works

• Indirect light. The source fires up into the brass, so there is no glare at eye level — the reason this suits a dining table where people sit facing each other.
• Wide and shallow. A broad disc covering a large span without dropping heavily into the room.
• Real stone, real weight. The marble bowl is solid, not a printed finish or a stone-look composite.
• Brass against stone. Warm metal above, cool stone below — the contrast that carries the whole design.

Two sizes

• Ø 13.8" (35 cm) — over a round breakfast table, an entry, or a pair above a kitchen island.
• Ø 17.7" (45 cm) — the full scale, for a dining table or as a single centrepiece.

Where to hang it

Because the light is indirect, the Luna is an ambient fixture — excellent over a dining table, a coffee table, or in a living room, and best paired with downlights if you need bright task light on a kitchen work surface. Over a dining table, the 17.7" suits tables up to about 54 inches wide and the 13.8" suits smaller or round tables; hang the brass disc 30 to 34 inches above the tabletop. Hang it where the underside is seen — the glow on the brass is the point, and it is lost if the fixture sits too high.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes and prices are available?

Two. The Ø 13.8" (35 cm) is $789 and the Ø 17.7" (45 cm) is $989. Each is available in Black Marble, Red Marble, or Travertine at the same price.

Is the marble real stone?

Yes. The bowl is cut from natural marble or travertine, not a printed or composite finish. Because it is a natural material, the veining, colour, and pattern vary in every single piece — the fixture you receive will not exactly match the photographs, and that variation is the material rather than a defect.

Which stone should I choose?

Black Marble is the most graphic, with white veins against near-black stone. Red Marble is the warmest and reads most obviously as stone from a distance. Travertine is the palest and quietest, suiting neutral and Mediterranean rooms.

Does it light downward onto a table?

Not directly. The source fires upward into the brass disc and the light reflects back down, which is what makes it completely glare-free. It gives beautiful ambient light, but for bright task lighting on a work surface, pair it with downlights.

Can I see the bulb from below?

No. The marble bowl sits beneath the light source and hides it entirely from view. From a seated position you see only lit brass and glowing stone.

How do I clean the marble?

Dust with a dry soft cloth only. Never use vinegar, citrus, or acidic household cleaners on marble or travertine — they etch the surface permanently. Wipe the brass dry and avoid metal polish, which will cut through the applied finish.

Can it be used in a bathroom or outdoors?

No. It is an indoor fixture. Marble and travertine are porous and will stain and degrade in damp conditions.
