Natural Travertine & Alabaster Capsule Sconce

The Intersection of Raw Earth and Ethereal Light
Experience a masterclass in organic contrast. The Travertine & Alabaster Capsule Sconce pairs the rugged, porous texture of honed travertine with the silky, luminous clarity of hand-carved alabaster. This fixture is designed for interiors that celebrate "perfectly imperfect" natural materials, offering a bidirectional glow that highlights the unique character of both stones simultaneously.

This sconce is a definitive choice for "Wabi-Sabi Modern" and "Desert Minimalist" aesthetics. Designers frequently categorize mixed-stone fixtures under "New Mediterranean" trends, where raw, tactile surfaces like travertine are used to ground luxury spaces. The two size options allow for "layered scaling," where different heights are used in the same corridor to create visual rhythm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the travertine and alabaster in this light?
The center band is made of Travertine, a limestone characterized by its naturally pitted surface and warm beige tones. The ends are made of Alabaster, a translucent mineral that allows light to pass through, creating a soft, glowing "halo" at the top and bottom.

Which size should I choose for a bathroom mirror?
The Small (14.6") is the most popular choice for standard vanity mirrors. If you have a ceiling height of 10 feet or higher, the Large (19.7") provides the necessary scale to ensure the lighting doesn't look "lost" on the wall.

Does the travertine have holes in it?
Yes, natural travertine is known for its voids and pits. In this sconce, we preserve those organic features to emphasize the stone's authenticity, though the surface is honed for a smooth, premium finish.

The Malane Aesthetic: A Study in Tactile Contrast

In most lighting, the hardware is a distraction. In the Capsule Sconce, the "hardware" is the stone itself. By replacing metal with travertine, we’ve created a fixture that feels like it was unearthed rather than manufactured.

Tonal Harmony: The warm, sandy beige of the travertine perfectly complements the creamy white veining of the alabaster, creating a monochromatic look with maximum textural depth.

Atmospheric Shadow: Because travertine is opaque and alabaster is translucent, the light is forced out through the ends, creating a dramatic "wash" effect on the wall above and below the fixture.
