The Seven-Shaded Crown: A Masterclass in Glare-Free Luxury
The PH Septima is a breathtaking display of glass craftsmanship and light physics. Originally designed in the late 1920s and revived for the modern era, this pendant features seven tiered shades made of premium Italian-style borosilicate glass. Each shade features alternating clear and frosted sandblasted sections, strategically positioned so that the frosted fields cover the clear fields below. The result? A sophisticated, multi-layered "staircase" of light that provides powerful illumination while remaining entirely glare-free from every angle. Septima is the pinnacle of "Danish Modernism" and "High-End Scandi-Luxe." It is the gold standard for "Quiet Luxury," offering a visual complexity that serves as a functional sculpture even when the light is switched off.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Septima manage glare with seven glass shades?
The Septima uses a brilliant alternating sandblasted pattern. The frosted sections on one shade align with the clear sections on the shade below it. This ensures the light is refracted and softened multiple times before reaching your eyes, creating an exceptionally comfortable, shadow-free environment.
Is the glass on the Septima fragile?
While it appears delicate, the Septima is crafted from high-strength borosilicate glass, which is more resistant to heat and thermal expansion than standard glass. Each shade is precision-balanced on the brass frame to ensure the fixture hangs perfectly plumb.
Does this lamp provide enough light for a large room?
Yes. Unlike smaller pendants, the Septima is designed for high-lumen output. Because of the clear sections in the glass, it allows a significant amount of light to escape while the frosted sections diffuse it. It is perfectly capable of being the primary light source in a grand dining room or entryway.
The Malane Aesthetic: The Invisible Light Core
The magic of the Septima is that you can never see the bulb. No matter where you stand in the room, the light source remains hidden behind the rhythmic layers of the glass crown.
Architectural Presence: At nearly 20 inches in diameter, the Septima has the "visual volume" to anchor a large room without feeling heavy or opaque.
Warm Brass Accents: The central brass stem provides a warm, golden reflection that enriches the white light, giving the entire fixture a regal, glowing aura.
