Twin Cylinder Brass Wall Sconce

Two frosted cylinders, held at the waist by a brass band. The glass runs straight through a machined collar on a round solid-brass backplate — one shade rising above it, one dropping below. Open at both ends, so light leaves the fixture upward and downward in two clean columns and washes the wall behind it.

The proportions are deliberately small. This is a sconce that sits close to the wall and does its work quietly: flanking a mirror, beside a bed in place of a table lamp, or repeated down a hallway. It is architectural rather than decorative — the kind of fitting that looks specified rather than shopped for.

Details

• Solid brass, not plated steel. The round backplate and the central band are machined brass, so the metal carries real weight and depth of colour.
• Frosted glass. The cylinders diffuse completely — no visible filament, no bright spot, no glare at face height. This is why it works beside a mirror.
• Up and down emission. Open top and bottom throw two columns of light along the wall, giving that grazed vertical wash rather than a single flat pool.
• G9 bulbs. A small bi-pin capsule, compact enough to disappear inside a slim cylinder.
• Two finishes. Brass for warmth against colour and wood; White for a fixture that disappears into a pale wall.

Two sizes

• H 5.1" (L 3.1" x W 2.4") — the compact version. Tight spaces, a run down a corridor, or flanking a small mirror. $160
• H 7.1" (L 3.1" x W 2.4") — the fuller scale, with more presence beside a vanity or a bed. $350

Specifications

Where to use it

Mount a pair either side of a bathroom mirror at roughly eye level, about 60 to 66 inches from the floor and 28 to 36 inches apart — side lighting at face height is far more flattering than a single fixture above the mirror, and frosted glass keeps it soft. Beside a bed, mount at 48 to 60 inches from the floor so the light falls where you read. In a hallway, space a run 6 to 8 feet apart for an even rhythm of light up and down the wall. Because the emission is vertical, give each fixture clear wall above and below to show the effect.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes and prices are available?

Two. The 5.1" high version is $160 and the 7.1" high version is $350. Both are 3.1" x 2.4" on the wall, and both are offered in Brass and in White.

What bulb does it take?

G9 bulbs — a small bi-pin capsule base, not a screw base. Be sure to buy G9 rather than E26 or E27. Choose 2700K warm white to keep the brass looking warm.

Does it light up and down?

Yes. The cylinders are open at the top and the bottom, so light leaves in two vertical columns and washes the wall above and below the fixture. It is ambient and accent lighting rather than a directional reading light.

Is the glass clear or frosted?

Frosted. The glass diffuses fully, so no filament is visible and there is no glare at face height — which is what makes it suitable beside a mirror.

Is it hardwired, or does it plug in?

Hardwired. It wires to a wall junction box and is operated from a separate wall switch, which is not included. There is no plug, no cord, and no switch on the fixture itself, so it needs an existing switched wall outlet box or an electrician to install one.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

It is rated IP20, which means no water protection at all. It suits a bathroom only in a dry zone — beside a mirror away from the shower or tub — and must not be installed where it could be splashed. Check your local wiring regulations for bathroom zones before installing.

What does IP20 mean?

IP20 means the fixture is protected against contact with objects larger than 12 mm, but has no protection against moisture. It is an indoor, dry-location rating.

Is it dimmable?

It runs on a common wall switch and has no built-in dimming, so it depends on the bulbs. Dimmable G9 LEDs on a compatible wall dimmer will dim.

What finishes are available?

Brass and White, in both sizes at the same price.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the glass with a soft cloth and use a dry cloth on the brass. Avoid metal polish, which will cut through the finish.

Will it work outside the United States?

Yes. It accepts AC 110-240 V and carries certification compatible with North America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. G9 bulbs are available for both 120 V and 230 V supply.
